JERUSALEM: A CUP OF TREMBLING
Jerusalem: Opposition to mooted Trump Israel announcement grows
December 4, 2017 — BBC News reports: “Opposition is growing in the Arab world to an expected announcement by Donald Trump that the US will recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Reports say the president will make the statement this week but will further delay acting on a campaign pledge to move the US embassy to the city.
The head of the Arab League, Jordan and the Palestinian president have warned of the consequences of a declaration.
The city’s fate is one of the thorniest issues between Israel and the Arabs.
A deadline for Donald Trump to sign a waiver delaying the relocation of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem expires on Monday.
Every president, including Mr Trump, has signed the waiver every six months since US Congress passed an act in 1995 calling for the embassy to be moved.
Mr Trump repeatedly pledged during his election campaign to move the embassy, and while he has said it was still his intention, he has not yet done so.
There are signs however he will make a statement on Wednesday announcing Washington’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel while holding off moving the embassy…” (930 times God promises Jerusalem forever to the Jews. President Trump is being true to the promises of the Almighty God to Israel. Ours was the first nation to recognize the sovereign state of Israel in 1948, but we have moved further and further away. God promised to Abraham: “…I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great, and thou shalt be a blessing: and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” – Genesis 12:2, 3. Soon all Hell will break loose in the Middle East. Joel 3:2 warns today’s politicians that World War III occurs because of parting God’s land. It won’t succeed. Christ will return, stop the horrendous war and reign over the world from the Throne of David in Jerusalem forever – Revelation 11:18; Luke 1:32, 33. See the next three reports.)
Jordanian king warns US against moving embassy to Jerusalem
November 30, 2017 — The Times of Israel reports: “Moving the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem would threaten the prospects for peace, the Jordanian king told US decision-makers on Wednesday.
Emphasizing that there is no alternative to the two-state solution, King Abdullah II said in Washington that it was important no measures be taken to undermine US efforts to kickstart peace talks, the Jordan Times reported.
On Tuesday, US Vice President Mike Pence said US President Donald Trump was ‘actively considering’ moving the embassy to Jerusalem, evoking a campaign promise that the administration had sidelined.
On Wednesday, Hadashot television news reported that in Israel, ‘there is a very high expectation’ that Trump will declare that he ‘formally recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and instructing his team to actively prepare to move the embassy.’ The report said the declaration was expected within days, possibly as soon as Sunday…”
Hamas threatens ‘intifada’ over US recognition of Jerusalem
December 3, 2017 — Israel National News reports: “Hamas called Saturday for a new ‘intifada’ if Washington recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel or moves its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
‘We warn against such a move and call on the Palestinian people to revive the intifada if these unjust decisions on Jerusalem are adopted,’ Hamas said in a statement.
Any decision to move its embassy there would be ‘a flagrant attack on the city by the American administration’ and give Israel ‘a cover for continuing its crime of Judaizing the city and emptying it of Palestinians,’ it said.
The last intifada, or uprising claimed the lives of some 1,000 Israelis between September 2000 and February 2005…”
Jerusalem: Turkey warns Trump against crossing ‘red line’
December 5, 2017 —BBC News reports: “Turkey’s president has warned it could sever ties with Israel if the US recognises Jerusalem as its capital.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan said such a move would cross a ‘red line’ for Muslims.
A growing number of countries have urged Donald Trump not to make his anticipated announcement.
Reports say the president will dramatically shift the US position on the status of Jerusalem this week. Its fate is one of the thorniest issues between Israel and the Palestinians.
‘Mr Trump! Jerusalem is a red line for Muslims,’ Mr Erdogan said in a televised speech on Tuesday.
‘We could go as far as cutting diplomatic ties with Israel over the issue.’…”
Israel Fires Back at Turkey: Jerusalem Has Been the Jewish Capital for 3,000 Years
December 5, 2017 — Haaretz reports: “A senior Israeli official responded to Turkey’s threat to cut ties with Israel if the U.S. recognizes Jerusalem as its capital, saying that ‘Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital for 3,000 years and the capital of Israel for 70 years, whether [Turkish President] Erdogan recognizes it as such or not.’
Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that the possibility that U.S. President Donald Trump will recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital ‘is a red line for Muslims.’ He warned that if such a decision is made it ‘will result in Turkey’s cutting diplomatic ties with Israel.’
Erdogan’s comments echo a growing sentiment in the Arab world and international community who are warning the U.S. against the potential fallout from the move.
The Turkish premier’s announcement follows comments by the diplomatic adviser of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas who said that the Palestinian leadership would ‘stop contacts’ with the U.S. if Trump follows through with the move…” (Although its history is one of war and destruction, Jerusalem means “city of peace” or “foundation of peace.”
From the siege of David in 1000 B.C. to the Six Day War of 1967, the sounds of battle have been heard as this city has experienced 46 sieges and 32 partial destructions. It has been burned to the ground five times, always rising from the ashes. It is the site of the most volatile political, religious, and military problems in the entire world.
The Jewish cry for peace in Jerusalem is sincere, finding its roots in the promise given through Moses (Leviticus 26:6). Jerusalem will finally become the city of peace and capital of the world when Christ, who is our peace, returns (Isaiah 9:6).
Having a history of 4,000 years, Jerusalem was first mentioned in Scripture in Genesis 14:18 when Melchizedek was king over the city of Salem. Later, it was called Jebus, named for the third son of Canaan, as it was the dwelling place of the Jebusites (Judges 19:10, 11; 1 Chronicles 11:4, 5).
When David took the city, the fortress was on a hill called Zion, another name given Jerusalem. Somehow, later, Jeru was added to Salem … perhaps a combination of Jebus, changed to Jeru, and Salem.
Since B.C. 400, Jerusalem has passed from one Gentile power to another. From 70 A.D. alone, the transition of power went from the Roman conquerors to the Persians in 614; to Caliph Omar in 637; to the Crusaders in 1099; to Saladin in 1187; to the Egyptian Mamelukes in 1250; the Turks in 1517; the British in 1917, and finally, in 1967, the Jews captured Jerusalem.)
‘You can tell Ezekiel: “The bones ain’t dry anymore!”‘
November 21, 2017 — Israel National News reports: “MK Yehuda Glick (Likud) spoke at a conference held by Arutz Sheva and the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce, which took place at the King David Hotel in Jerusalem…
‘Dear friends: Dovy, Anthony, Joe Frager, Ken, my friend Oren Hazan and Mark Zell, and all the wonderful people from Arutz Sheva, Rabbanit Melamed, all the Baruch family, et cetera, et cetera.
‘Ladies and gentlemen, it really is a wonderful miracle to be here. We can’t take things for granted. We’re sitting here in the hotel of King David, in the city of King David; ladies and gentlemen, we have to remind ourselves: Coming to Israel, Anthony, is not just sight-seeing. Coming to Israel is to see the words of the prophets coming out of the book, and materializing, and becoming a reality.
‘You can tell Ezekiel: ‘The bones ain’t dry anymore!’ You can tell Jeremiah, ‘Jerusalem is not isolated like a widow anymore,’ and you can tell Zechariah, ‘Children are playing in the streets of Jerusalem’.
‘Ladies and gentlemen, the words of the prophets are coming out of the book, and we are writing the next chapter of the Book in our generation, we are seeing it happen with our own eyes, and we have a mission, that Jerusalem should be the G-dly capital of the Jewish People and of the world…” (A vivid description of the scattering and return of Israel is given by the Prophet Ezekiel in his vision of the valley of dry bones. He is transported to a great valley full of dry, bleached bones exposed to the wind and sun. He was asked if those bones could live and was also told to prophecy about them. While he was speaking, the bones came together and the skeletons, covered with flesh and given life, stood to their feet and became a great army.
The bones represent Israel [Ezekiel 37:11]. Their disconnectedness and dryness indicate Israel’s scattering and lack of hope. The graves are the nations in which they dwell. The imparting of sinew, flesh, and breath is a miracle timed for the last days.
The Jews are to come out of the nations to which they have been scattered. They will return in unbelief without spiritual life, but finally after being settled in their land, there will come a time of conversion, of new birth [Ezekiel 37:1-14, Romans 11:26].)
