Haaretz reports: “Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attacked Western powers for a catalogue of misdeeds, but his address to the United Nations failed to mention Tehran’s disputed nuclear program.

The U.S. delegation walked out when Ahmadinejad said ‘arrogant powers’ threatened anyone who questioned the Holocaust and the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States with sanctions and military action. Other Western delegations soon made their exit.

Ahmadinejad made only a passing reference to the Palestinian issue which has overshadowed this year’s UN General Assembly and did not comment on the Palestinian plan to ask the UN Security Council to recognize their nascent state.

He accused the United States of using the ‘mysterious’ Sept. 11, 2001, attacks as a pretext to launch wars on Iraq and Afghanistan. The United States and its allies ‘view Zionism as a sacred notion and ideology,’ the Iranian leader said.

‘By using their imperialistic media network which is under the influence of colonialism they threaten anyone who questions the Holocaust and the Sept. 11 event with sanctions and military actions,’ he added…”

YnetNews.com reports: “It’s not often that the al-Qaeda terror organization stands by the United States, the ‘Great Satan’. The person who has managed to unite the two enemies in a joint goal is none other than Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has been spreading conspiracy theories on the 9/11 terror offensive.

The ABC network’s website reported that in the latest issue of the al-Qaeda English-language magazine ‘Inspire’, an author appears to take offense to the ‘ridiculous’ theory repeatedly spread by Ahmadinejad that the 9/11 attacks were actually carried out by the US government in order to provide a pretext to invade the Middle East.

According to the article, ‘The Iranian government has professed on the tongue of its president Ahmadinejad that it does not believe that al-Qaeda was behind 9/11, but rather the US government. So we may ask the question: Why would Iran ascribe to such a ridiculous belief that stands in the face of all logic and evidence?’

The author admits that Iran was the first of the two to use the ‘Great Satan’ as a synonym for the US, but claims that the Islamic Republic sees itself as a rival for al-Qaeda when it comes to anti-Americanism and is jealous of the 9/11 attacks.

According to al-Qaeda, Iran continues to deny that Osama bin Laden and his people were responsible for the attacks because doing otherwise would expose their ‘lip-service jihad’ against the US…”
