Xi Jinping Greatly Expands Chinese Military’s Mandate Beyond Defense, Tells World Not to Worry

June 17, 2022 — Breitbart.com reports: “A Chinese Communist Party regulation signed by dictator Xi Jinping, whose many titles include chairmanship of the Central Military Commission (CMC), greatly expands the mandate of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to conduct ‘non-war military activities’ – a benign-sounding term that happens to be very similar to the language Russian dictator Vladimir Putin employs to describe his invasion of Ukraine.

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) on Thursday quoted Chinese academics and military experts who scrambled to reassure the world that Xi did not give the PLA a new mandate for conducting offensive military operations beyond China’s borders…”  (China will become a basic partner with Russia for the rapidly approaching battle of Armageddon – Revelation 16:16. Russia will lead invasion number one – Ezekiel 38 & 39. China will lead invasion number two – Revelation 16:12; Revelation 9:14 – 16. China: U.S. Could ‘Spark World War III’ by Diversifying Mineral Supply Chains

June 17, 2022 — Breitbart.com reports: “China’s state-run Global Times on Thursday warned the United States could ‘spark World War III’ by pushing too hard to decouple from the Chinese minerals industry by developing its own supply.

After a little throat-clearing and harrumphing about how ‘it’s reasonable for any country to diversify its supply chains that involve critical resources,’ the Global Times said China would consider it tantamount to an act of war if the U.S. diversifies too much because Beijing sees decoupling as preparation for ‘an all-out conflict’ with America’s ‘strategic competitors’ that could escalate into ‘World War III.’

In the eyes of the Chinese Communist Party, the U.S. and its NATO allies could have no plausible reason for decoupling from peaceful China except ‘anxiety’ that they would lose their supply of precious minerals by starting a war…”

China tests missile-interception system

June 20, 2022 — The Jerusalem Post reports: “China has carried out a land-based missile interception test that ‘achieved its expected purpose,’ the defense ministry said, describing it as defensive and not aimed at any country.

China has been ramping up research into all sorts of missiles, from those that can destroy satellites in space to advanced nuclear-tipped ballistic missiles, as part of an ambitious modernization scheme overseen by President Xi Jinping.

Beijing has tested missile interceptors before; the most recent previous public announcement of a test was in February 2021, and before that in 2018. State media has said China has conducted anti-missile system tests since at least 2010.

The ministry said in a brief statement late on Sunday that the ‘ground-based midcourse anti-missile intercept technology’ test had been carried out that night…”

China, Russia veto US bid at UN to punish North Korea

May 27, 2022 — SpaceWar.com reports: “China and Russia on Thursday vetoed a US-led bid at the United Nations to toughen sanctions on North Korea over its missile launches, laying bare divisions that Western envoys fear would be exploited by Pyongyang.

The Security Council resolution put forward by the United States would have reduced the amount of oil North Korea could legally import as punishment for a test Wednesday of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

The resolution enjoyed the support of the 13 other members of the Security Council, although some US allies quietly wondered whether Washington should have gone ahead with the vote knowing the unflinching opposition from Beijing and Moscow.

China, the closest ally of North Korea, and Russia, whose relations with the West have sunk over its invasion of Ukraine, said they would have preferred a non-binding statement rather than a fresh resolution with teeth against Pyongyang…”

Taiwan Scrambles Jets to Warn Away Chinese Aircraft

June 22, 2022 — Voice of America News reports: “Taiwan scrambled jets on Tuesday to warn away Chinese aircraft in its air defense identification zone including bombers that flew to the south of the island and into the Pacific, in the latest uptick in tensions and largest incursion since late May.

Taiwan, which China claims as its own territory, has complained for the past two years or so of repeated missions by the Chinese air force near the democratically governed island, often in the southwestern part of its air defense identification zone, or ADIZ, close to the Taiwan-controlled Pratas Islands.

Taiwan calls China’s repeated nearby military activities gray zone warfare, designed to both wear out Taiwanese forces by making them repeatedly scramble and also to test Taiwanese responses.

The latest Chinese mission included 17 fighters and six H-6 bombers, as well as electronic warfare, early warning, antisubmarine and an aerial refueling aircraft, Taiwan’s defense ministry said.

China vows ‘fight to the end’ to stop Taiwan independence

June 13, 2022 — SinoDaily.com reports: “China will ‘fight to the very end’ to stop Taiwanese independence, the country’s defence minister vowed Sunday, stoking already soaring tensions with the United States over the island.

The superpowers are locked in a growing war of words over the self-ruled, democratic island, which Beijing views as part of its territory awaiting reunification.

Frequent Chinese aerial incursions near Taiwan have raised the diplomatic temperature, and on Saturday, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin accused Beijing of ‘destabilising’ military activity in a speech to the Shangri-La Dialogue security summit.

Defence Minister Wei Fenghe hit back in a fiery address at the same event, saying Beijing had ‘no choice’ but to fight if attempts are made to separate Taiwan from China.

‘We will fight at all cost, and we will fight to the very end,’ he said…”

Five Nations Revive 51-year-old Security Pact Amid China Threat

June 15, 2022 — Voice of America News reports: “Britain and four Asian members of the Commonwealth have announced efforts to expand and re-energize the Five Powers Defense Arrangements (FPDA), a 51-year-old series of mutual assistance agreements embracing the U.K, Malaysia, Singapore, and New Zealand.

At its core, the pact commits the members to consult with one another in the event or threat of an armed attack on any of the FPDA members and to mutually decide what measures should be taken, jointly or separately. There is no specific obligation to intervene militarily.
