Gallup Poll: Belief in God Among U.S. Adults Dips to All-Time Low

June 20, 2022 — Breitbart.com reports: “Belief in God among U.S. adults sank to an all-time low this year, according to recent data from a Gallup survey.

According to the survey, most U.S. adults — 81 percent — believe in God. But while that figure seems high, it is actually the lowest percentage ever reported in this survey. Up until 2011, over 90 percent said they believed in God, but the number has continued to drop, now down eight points from the 89 percent who expressed belief in God in 2016. The previous low was set in 2014, when 86 percent said they believed in God.

When Gallup asked the same question in 1953, 1954, 1965, and 1967, 98 percent said they believed in God. 

Overall, 17 percent currently say they do not believe in God, and according to the survey’s findings, young people and leftists are the most likely not to believe..”  (…when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? – Luke 18:8.  The article makes one wonder what the answer to that question would be.  Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it. – Amos 8:11-12.

Thankfully, God always has a faithful remnant.  In I Kings 19 following the victory over the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, Elijah fled to the wilderness after hearing a threat from Jezebel.  We read: …he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.  And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.  And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.  And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.  And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.  And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?  And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.  And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:  And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.  And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?  And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.  And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:  And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.  And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.  Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him. – I Kings 19:4-18 [Emphasis mine].  Thank God for His faithful remnant.)

Minister claims ‘Bible must give way’ to same-sex ‘marriage’

June 13, 2022 — WND.com reports: “A minister in the state-endorsed Church of Scotland stunningly has claimed that the Bible is not always the authority that people must follow.

The shocking statement comes from Rev. Scott Rennie, who openly lives a homosexual lifestyle, and concerns same-sex marriage.

The Christian Institute reported how Rennie’s opinion concerns the Bible and whether it is the ‘final word on sexual ethics.’

Rennie claimed that there’s ‘disagreement about Scripture and its place and its connection with reason and the modern world.’

He was being challenged by Rev. Christians are being ‘strategically driven’ from their homes

June 23, 2022 — ChristianToday.com reports: “The Christian presence is at risk of being completely erased from some parts of the world due to persecution, a new report warns.

‘The Church on the Run’ report by Open Doors describes a ‘deliberate strategy’ to weaken, silence or completely eradicate Christian populations.

‘While displacement is sometimes perceived as an unintentional by-product of persecution, in many instances, it is intentional and can be part of a wider strategy to completely eradicate Christianity from the village, region or country. In some instances, the strategy is overt and public, in others it is covert and informal,’ the report says.

Open Doors’ Global Gender Persecution Specialist, Helene Fisher, said, ‘Part of this deliberate strategy is to fracture religious communities.’ 

The most common driver of displacement for persecuted Christians was their family, followed by local and national government officials, the local community, and violent religious groups.

Over 50 Feared Killed in Terror Attack on Nigerian Catholic Church

June 6, 2022 — PJMedia.com reports: “Reports coming out of Nigeria say that dozens of worshippers including women and children were killed in an attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, in the southwestern Nigerian state of Ondo. The attackers targeted parishioners who were celebrating Pentecost Sunday, with terrorists firing weapons into the congregation and detonating explosives. The terrorists also abducted a priest.

‘Only fiends from the nether region could have conceived and carried out such dastardly act,’ said Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, according to a spokesman. He called the attack ‘heinous’ and promised, ‘No matter what, this country shall never give in to evil and wicked people, and darkness will never overcome light. Nigeria will eventually win.’ Buhari was elected to office on a platform of making Nigeria more secure…”
