Russia’s Medvedev: World is probably on verge of a new world war

April 26, 2023 — The Jerusalem Post reports: “An ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin warned on Tuesday that the world was probably on the verge of a new world war, cautioning that the risks of a nuclear confrontation were also rising, though neither scenario was inevitable.

‘The world is sick and quite probably is on the verge of a new world war,’ former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who serves as deputy chairman of Putin’s powerful security council, told a conference in Moscow.

Russia: New Cold War is Over, We Are Now in ‘Hot Conflict With the United States’

April 6, 2023 — Breitbart.com reports: “The United States is ‘playing with fire’ and engaged in a hot ‘hybrid war’ with Russia, having already graduated from the Cold War stage, a Russian government minister has claimed, incredibly even going so far as to blame the U.S. for rising nuclear tensions.

The new Cold War is already over, a Kremlin spokesman has said, apparently looking past Russia’s own role in invading Ukraine and accusing the United States of ‘playing with fire’ by pushing the world towards nuclear war that he insists Russians wish to avoid.

The comments come just hours after Russia announced it had deployed nuclear-capable missiles to the borders of NATO in Belarus, and refitted Belarussian jets with the equipment to carry and drop nuclear bombs. Moscow made a tacit accusation that the United States was to blame for this, saying Russia was doing no more than America already did, in stationing nuclear weapons in the territory of European allies…”

‘New world order’: Russia reveals its ultimate goal

April 7, 2023 — News.com.au reports: “Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, says that any peace talks with Ukraine must be centred on a ‘new world order’, in a meeting with his Turkish counterpart in Ankara.

The top Russian diplomat was in Turkey – which has retained ties with both Moscow and Kyiv – to hold talks with Turkish foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Friday.

He also threatened to abandon a landmark grain deal, which Turkey helped broker, if obstacles to Russian exports remain.

‘Any negotiation needs to be based on taking into account Russian interests, Russian concerns,’ Mr Lavrov said.

‘It should be about the principles on which the new world order will be based.’

He added that Russia rejects a ‘unipolar world order led by ‘one hegemon’’.

Russia has long said it was leading a struggle against the US dominance over the international stage, and argues the Ukraine offensive is part of that fight…”
