No surprise if North Korea conducts new nuclear test, US says

July 17, 2023 — SpaceWar.com reports: “The United States would not be surprised if North Korea conducts another nuclear test, following the regime’s launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile this past week, a senior White House official said Sunday.

‘I have been concerned for some time that North Korea would conduct what would be its seventh nuclear test going back multiple administrations. And I remain concerned about that,’ National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told CBS talk show ‘Face the Nation’ in an interview.

‘I don’t see any immediate indications that that’s going to happen,’ he added.

‘But it would not come as a surprise if North Korea moved forward with another nuclear test with respect to its intercontinental ballistic missile capability.’…”  (Kim Jong-un, his sister, and recently his daughter, Ju-ae, who appeared with him twice recently raising speculation about possible succession, are following in the footsteps of Kim Jong-il and Kim il-sung in seeking nuclear weapons.  In 1993, President Bill Clinton spoke in South Korea and stated that if North Korea gained and used a nuclear weapon, the U.S. would quickly and overwhelming retaliate, and it would mean the end of their country as they know it.  President George W. Bush named North Korea as one of the three-part ‘axis of evil’ along with Iran and Iraq in 2002.  In 2014, President Barack Obama warned North Korea that the U.S. would not hesitate to use military might to defend our allies against this ‘pariah state’.  And in August 2017, President Donald Trump stated: “North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States.  They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.”  It is believed that North Korea developed nuclear weapons in 2004.  See the next three reports.) 

North Korea threatens nuclear response after US sub deployment

July 21, 2023 —  SpaceWar.com reports: “North Korea’s defence minister said Thursday the current port visit of a US nuclear-capable submarine to South Korea could meet the legal conditions under which Pyongyang would use its nuclear weapons.

Relations between the two Koreas are at one of their lowest points ever, with diplomacy stalled and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un calling for increased weapons development, including tactical nuclear weapons.

The United States and South Korea have stepped up displays of military muscle in response, and a US nuclear-capable submarine made a port call to South Korea this week for the first time since 1981.

Pyongyang’s defence minister Kang Sun Nam said the arrival in Busan port of a US Ohio-class submarine ‘may fall under the conditions of the use of nuclear weapons specified in the DPRK law on the nuclear force policy’, referring to North Korea by its official name.

North Korea last year adopted a sweeping nuclear law, setting out an array of scenarios in which it could use its nukes, including pre-emptive nuclear strikes if threatened.

Kang said the presence of the sub was an ‘undisguised and direct nuclear threat to the DPRK’, and meant that ‘strategic nuclear weapons have been deployed on the Korean peninsula for the first time after 40 odd years’.

‘The US military side should realise that its nuclear assets have entered extremely dangerous waters,’ he said in a statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency…”

North Korea leader’s sister warns of ‘overwhelming nuclear deterrence’

July 17, 2023 — SpaceWar.com reports: “The powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warned on Friday of ‘overwhelming nuclear deterrence’ unless the United States drops what she called its ‘hostile policy’ against Pyongyang, state media reported.

Kim Yo Jong also defended North Korea’s latest intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch as an act of self-defence.

The nuclear-armed state on Wednesday test-fired a solid-fuel missile that flew 1,001 kilometres (622 miles) at a maximum altitude of 6,648 km, before splashing into the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan.

Its trajectory suggested it was capable of reaching the mainland United States, analysts said.

‘Now that the US does not respond to the abandonment of its hostile policy… the DPRK will further put spurs to building up the most overwhelming nuclear deterrence,’ Kim Yo Jong said in a statement carried by the Korean Central News Agency…”

North Korean leader’s sister dismisses talks with US as ‘a daydream’

July 20, 2023 — SpaceWar.com reports: “North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s powerful sister dismissed the idea of talks with the United States as ‘a daydream’ on Monday, the eve of the first US-South Korean meeting on nuclear deterrence.

North Korea fired its most powerful ballistic missile yet last week, the solid-fuel Hwasong 18 intercontinental ballistic missile, the latest of a string of launches this year.

Seoul and Washington have ramped up defence cooperation in response to the North’s weapons tests, staging joint military exercises with advanced stealth jets and US strategic assets.

They will hold their inaugural meeting of the Nuclear Consultative Group (NCG) in Seoul on Tuesday, which, according to the presidential office in Seoul, is aimed at ‘bolstering nuclear deterrence against North Korea’.

Kim Yo Jong warned that a strengthened extended deterrence system and military alliance will only further alienate the North from dialogue.

‘It is a daydream for the U.S. to think that it can stop the advance of the DPRK and, furthermore, achieve irreversible disarmament through the interim suspension of joint military exercises, halt to the deployment of strategic assets and the reversible sanction relief,’ she said in a statement carried by the Korean Central News Agency…”

South Korea’s President Threatens to ‘End’ North Korean Regime Aboard U.S. Nuclear Sub

July 20, 2023 — Breitbart.com reports: “South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol vowed that any North Korean nuclear attack would be ‘the end of that regime’ on Wednesday while touring the USS Kentucky, an Ohio-class nuclear ballistic missile submarine currently stationed in the southern port city of Busan.

Yoon, a hardline conservative, has used his term at the helm of his country to bring South Korea’s foreign policy more in line with America and undo concessions made to the communist North Korean regime under his predecessor, leftist Moon Jae-in. Yoon negotiated the return of American nuclear submarines to the Korean peninsula during a visit to Washington, DC, in April, resulting in the first such vehicles docked in the country since 1981.

Prior to the Kentucky‘s arrival, the USS Michigan, a nuclear-powered submarine arrived in Busan in June. ‘Unlike Kentucky, Michigan has been converted from carrying nuclear ballistic missiles to fielding 154 Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles,’ the U.S. Naval Institute’s news portal (USNI) explained on Tuesday…”  (Nuclear war is coming – Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.
