Australia boy ‘displays severed head in Syria’

August 11, 2014 — BBC News reports: “Australian PM Tony Abbott has voiced strong condemnation after an image emerged showing a boy, reportedly the son of an Australian ex-terror convict, holding a Syrian’s severed head.
The image was posted on the Twitter account of Khaled Sharrouf, The Australian newspaper reported.
Sharrouf, who served time for planning attacks in Australia, has now joined Islamic State (IS) militants in Syria.

Mr. Abbott said the image showed ‘just how barbaric’ IS militants were.

The image shows a young boy – who looks to be of early primary school age – wearing a baseball cap and a blue shirt, using both hands to hold aloft the severed head.

A caption was included that read ‘That’s my boy’, The Australian said. It said the image was taken in the northern Syrian city of Raqa.

Another picture showed Sharrouf wearing combat fatigues posing with three children believed by security personnel to be his sons, the newspaper reported.

‘What we’ve got to appreciate is that Islamic State… is not just a terrorist group, it’s a terrorist army and they’re seeking not just a terrorist enclave but effectively a terrorist state,’ Mr. Abbott told Australian radio from the Netherlands, where he is discussing issues related to flight MH17, the passenger plane brought down in Ukraine.

Video from Islamic State shows how children are being trained to be jihadists

40,000 Iraqis stranded on mountain as ISIS jihadists threaten death

August 7, 2014 — The Guardian.co.uk reports: “Tens of thousands of members of one of Iraq’s oldest minorities have been stranded on a mountain in the country’s north-west, facing slaughter at the hands of jihadists surrounding them below if they flee, or death by dehydration if they stay.

UN groups say at least 40,000 members of the Yazidi sect, many of them women and children, have taken refuge in nine locations on Mount Sinjar, a craggy, mile-high ridge identified in local legend as the final resting place of Noah’s ark.

At least 130,000 more people, many from the Yazidi stronghold of Sinjar, have fled to Dohuk, in the Kurdish north, or to Irbil, where regional authorities have been struggling since June to deal with one of the biggest and most rapid refugee movements in decades.

Sinjar itself has been all but emptied of its 300,000 residents since jihadists stormed the city late on Saturday, but an estimated 25,000 people remain. ‘We are being told to convert or to lose our heads,’ said Khuldoon Atyas, who has stayed behind to guard his family’s crops. ‘There is no one coming to help.’

Another man, who is hiding in the mountains and identified himself as Nafi’ee, said: ‘Food is low, ammunition is low, and so is water. We have one piece of bread to share between 10 people. We have to walk 2km to get water. There were some air strikes yesterday [against the jihadists], but they have made no difference.’

At least 500 Yazidis, including 40 children, have been killed in the past week, local officials say. Many more have received direct threats, either from the advancing militants or members of nearby Sunni communities allied with them. ‘They were our neighbours and now they are our killers,’ said Atyas…”

Islamic State extremists deliver ultimatum to Yazidis: ‘Convert today – or die’

August 10, 2014 — The Telegraph.co.uk reports: “Hundreds of terrified families belonging to the besieged Yazidi sect have reportedly been threatened with execution if they refuse to convert to Islam today, according to reports.

Yazidi refugees who are stranded on Mount Sinjar said they have received calls from family members trapped behind enemy lines in villages now controlled by Islamic State jihadis.

They have reportedly been handed a brutal ultimatum: convert to Islam – or die.

According to Matthew Barber, an academic who is currently in northern Iraq, the ultimatum has been issued to families trapped in three villages held by the Islamic State…” (The Yazidis are a pagan religious sect. Islam’s demand is that they convert or die. Christianity’s plan is so beautiful and Godly for making converts: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” – John 3:16, and also “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” – Galatians 2:20.)

Iraq says Islamic State killed 500 Yazidis, buried some victims alive

August 10, 2014 — Reuters reports: “Islamic State militants have killed at least 500 members of Iraq’s Yazidi ethnic minority during their offensive in the north, Iraq’s human rights minister told Reuters on Sunday.
Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said the Sunni militants had also buried alive some of their victims, including women and children. Some 300 women were kidnapped as slaves, he added.

‘We have striking evidence obtained from Yazidis fleeing Sinjar and some who escaped death, and also crime scene images that show indisputably that the gangs of the Islamic States have executed at least 500 Yazidis after seizing Sinjar,’ Sudani said in a telephone interview, in his first remarks to the media on the issue.
Sinjar is the ancient home of the Yazidis, one of the towns captured by the Sunni militants who view the community as ‘devil worshipers’ and tell them to convert to Islam or face death.

A deadline passed at midday on Sunday for 300 Yazidi families to convert to Islam or face death at the hands of the militants. It was not immediately clear whether the Iraqi minister was talking about the fate of those families or others in the conflict.

‘Some of the victims, including women and children were buried alive in scattered mass graves in and around Sinjar,’ Sudani said…” (Islam is a slaughterhouse religion using the sword for the plan of salvation – Shariah Law.)
