Biden allows Ukraine to strike inside Russia with missiles

November 18, 2024 — BBC.com reports: “US President Joe Biden has given the green light for Ukraine to use long-range missiles supplied by the US to strike Russia, US officials say.

The move marks a major change in policy for Washington which had refused for months to agree to Kyiv’s requests for authorisation to use the ATACMS missiles outside its own borders.

On Sunday Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to the news – which came via briefings from US officials – saying ‘such things are not announced, missiles speak for themselves’.

Fury in Russia at ‘serious escalation’ of missile move

November 18, 2024 — BBC.com reports: “President Biden’s decision to allow Ukraine to strike inside Russia with long-range missiles supplied by the US has sparked a furious response in Russia.

‘Departing US president Joe Biden… has taken one of the most provocative, uncalculated decisions of his administration, which risks catastrophic consequences,’ declared the website of the Russian government newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta on Monday morning.

Russian MP Leonid Slutsky, head of the pro-Kremlin Liberal-Democratic Party, predicted that the decision would ‘inevitably lead to a serious escalation, threatening serious consequences’.

Russian senator Vladimir Dzhabarov called it ‘an unprecedented step towards World War Three’.

Anger, yes. But no real surprise.

Komsomolskaya Pravda, the pro-Kremlin tabloid, called it ‘a predictable escalation’.

What really counts, though, is what Vladimir Putin calls it and how the Kremlin leader responds.

Russia broadens conditions for using nuclear weapons 

November 19, 2024 — Voice of America News reports: “As the war in Ukraine entered its 1,000th day Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a revised nuclear doctrine stating that a conventional attack on Russia by any nation supported by a nuclear power is considered a joint attack and could trigger a nuclear response.

The proclamation came a day after U.S. President Joe Biden authorized Ukraine to use long-range weapons from the U.S. to attack military targets in Russia.

When Russian government spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked if the revised doctrine was issued in response to the U.S. authorization, he said it was put forth ‘in a timely manner’ and that Putin wanted it updated to be ‘in line with the current situation,’ the Associated Press reported.

The doctrine states nuclear weapons could be used in case of a massive air attack involving ballistic and cruise missiles, aircraft, drones and other flying vehicles.

It says an attack against Russia by a nonnuclear power with the ‘participation or support of a nuclear power’ will be seen as their ‘joint attack on the Russian Federation.’

It doesn’t specify whether such an attack would definitely be met with a nuclear response…”  (A huge nuclear war is prophesied multiplied times in God’s Word.  Revelation 9:14 – 18 depicts Armageddon: Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.  And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.  And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.  And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone. Russia vows response after Ukraine fires long-range US missiles

November 20, 2024 —  “Russia warned on Tuesday that it would respond after Ukraine fired longer-range US missiles at its territory for the first time, as President Vladimir Putin issued a nuclear threat on the 1,000th day of the war.

A senior official told AFP that a strike on Russia’s Bryansk region earlier on Tuesday ‘was carried out by ATACMS missiles’ — a reference to the US-supplied Army Tactical Missile System.

Speaking 1,000 days after Russia invaded Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the attack showed Western countries wanted to ‘escalate’ the conflict.

‘We will be taking this as a qualitatively new phase of the Western war against Russia. And we will react accordingly,’ Lavrov told a press conference at the G20 summit in Brazil.

Putin signed a decree on Tuesday lowering the threshold for using nuclear weapons, a move that the White House, UK and European Union condemned as ‘irresponsible’.

He has used nuclear rhetoric throughout the conflict but has grown increasingly belligerent since last year, pulling out of a nuclear test ban treaty and a key arms reduction agreement with the US…”
