Love and Hate
Those who love the Lord must learn to hate evil. Some envision one who loves God as a person who has a wishy-washy attitude toward everything — even sin. Nothing could be further from the Biblical truth. The Bible says: “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil tray, and the froward mouth, do I hate” (Proverbs 8:13).
It is not strange that those who truly love the Lord hate certain things. There are a number of things that God hates. Here are some examples: “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren” (Proverbs 6:16-19).
To say that we love God while loving or participating in the things He hates is hypocrisy.
You say you love God? Are you ruled by pride? Is your walk consistent with your talk? Do you have a loose tongue? Are you guilty of causing divisions and trouble among brethren? Does your love for God stand the test of consistency?
Wise Solomon explained that there is a time to love and a time to hate (Ecclesiastes 3:8).
It is time to love God.
It is time to hate evil!
