CONTENDING FOR THE FAITH
Report: Half a Billion Christians Facing Global Persecution
November 25, 2018 — Breitbart.com reports: “More than 60 percent of the world’s population of more than 7.5 billion reside in countries where the right to religious freedom is obstructed or denied. An estimated 505 million Christians face persecution for following their faith, a Catholic NGO Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) report indicated this week.
‘For simply belonging to the wrong religion, countless numbers of people have been killed; many others have disappeared and still more have been imprisoned indefinitely,’ John Pontifex, the report’s editor-in-chief, said.
On Thursday, a press release on the 14th edition of ACN’s Religious Freedom in the World Report, which this year covers all religions in 196 countries over a two-year period up to and including June 2018, declared:
The report—noting that respect for religious freedom is on the decline worldwide—finds that 61 percent of the world’s population live in countries where the right to religious freedom is obstructed or denied outright. The report estimates that some 327 million Christians live in countries where they face religious persecution, with another 178 million suffering some form of discrimination because of their faith.
ACN found
non-state actors in countries like India, China, and Myanmar have exacerbated a
boost in hatred against faith minorities…” (Great persecution will soon
overtake most Christians in a majority of the world. USA Today reported
that Christianity is the most hated religion in the world. “Blessed are they
which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall
say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be
exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the
prophets which were before you.” – Matthew 5:10 – 12. However: Fear none
of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of
you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days:
be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” –
Revelation 2:10.)
D’Souza: If America Does Not Speak Up, Asia Bibi Has No Chance of Surviving in Pakistan
November 20, 2018 — Breitbart.com reports: “If there ever was a time for America to speak up for religious freedom, that time is now.
Asia Bibi — the Christian mother of five sentenced to death nearly a decade ago under Pakistan’s arcane blasphemy laws — is, in effect, still facing a sentence, despite the Supreme Court of Pakistan overturning her actual death sentence on October 31, acquitting her of all charges, and authorizing her immediate release.
The celebration by the international community was quickly drowned out by the thundering rage of mobs, organized by the Islamic extremist party Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP), who demanded her death.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, the cricket-star-turned-politician, initially resisted the demands of the extremists, but after three days of rioting, he capitulated. This isn’t new from the Pakistani prime minister. He did the same this year when he briefly appointed a world-renowned Princeton professor as an economic adviser only to bow to protests days later because the scholar happened to be an Ahmadi Muslim. The Ahmadiyya is a minority sect of Islam Pakistan’s Islamists viciously oppose.
In what can only be described as a devil’s bargain, the Pakistani government has now agreed to step aside and allow the extremists to put Bibi on a ‘flight risk’ list to prevent her from leaving the country and to file an absurd appeal against the Supreme Court’s decision.
The
government’s kowtowing to religious fanatics does not bode well for Bibi who,
after spending over nine years in jail, seems closer to death than ever —
either by a court’s reinstitution of her death sentence or an extrajudicial
execution by a mob…” (More Muslim
hatred and slaughter in the name of their god. See what Jesus called such
killers in John 8:44: “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of
your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning…”)
Report: Unable to Reach Asia Bibi, Pakistan’s Islamists Attacking Random Christians
November 13, 2018 — Breitbart.com reports: “Islamists reportedly attacked travelers in Pakistan who identified themselves as Christians in the wake of the decision by the Supreme Court to rescind the 2010 death sentence against Asia Bibi for alleged blasphemy, CNN reported on Sunday.
Breitbart News has long reported that Pakistan’s controversial blasphemy law is disproportionally used target religious minorities, particularly Christians.
Human rights groups have determined that Muslims often use the law to settle personal disputes and vendettas.
Peter Jacob, the executive director for the Center for Social Justice in Lahore, told CNN that half of the individuals accused of blasphemy in Pakistan are non-Muslims, adding that his organization registered cases in which anti-Bibi rioters asked travelers to divulge their religion, and if they revealed they were Christian, ‘They were taken out of their cars and beaten up.’
‘The mental and psychological scars’ inflicted on the Christian community will endure in the ‘current climate of fear,’ Jacob noted…” (Jesus said in John 15: 18 – 20: “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.”)
