Fox News Reports: “Declaring “justice has been done,” President Obama announced late Sunday (May 1, 2011) that Usama bin Laden was killed by U.S. forces in Pakistan, marking the end of the worldwide manhunt that began nearly a decade ago on Sept. 11, 2001.

The president made the stunning announcement within hours of informing congressional leaders. He said bin Laden was killed Sunday, the culmination of years of intelligence gathering. The news drew a large crowd to the front of the White House, as well as in Times Square, as people chanted “U-S-A. U-S-A.”

Obama, in his address to the nation shortly before midnight, thanked the Americans who have toiled in pursuit of bin Laden and applauded those who carried out the successful mission in Pakistan. Describing that mission only briefly, he said its result “is a testament to the greatness of our country.”

“For over two decades, bin Laden has been Al Qaeda’s leader and symbol,” Obama said. “The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat Al Qaeda.”

The president traced the death of bin Laden to a tip received last August. He said he was briefed at the time on the “possible lead,” and that after months of intelligence work it was determined bin Laden was hiding in a compound “deep” inside Pakistan. Obama said, after determining the intelligence was sound, he authorized the operation to bring him to justice last week.

He said a “small team” of Americans went after bin Laden in Abbottabad on Sunday. “After a firefight, they killed Usama bin Laden and took custody of his body,” the president said…” (His reward? Luke 16:23: “…In hell he lifted up his eyes being in torment…” He won’t find 72 virgins awaiting him as promised in the Koran – Sura 52:17-24.)

Haaretz reports: “The Palestinian Islamist group Hamas on Monday condemned the killing by U.S. forces of Osama bin Laden and mourned him as an ‘Arab holy warrior.’

‘We regard this as a continuation of the American policy based on oppression and the shedding of Muslim and Arab blood,’ Ismail Haniyeh, head of the Hamas administration in the Gaza Strip, told reporters.

Though he noted doctrinal differences between bin Laden’s al-Qaida and Hamas, Haniyeh said: ‘We condemn the assassination and the killing of an Arab holy warrior. We ask God to offer him mercy with the true believers and the martyrs.’

Haniyeh’s reported comments came following an earlier remark by a Palestinian Authority spokesman who said Monday the killing of Osama bin Laden by U.S. forces was ‘good for the cause of peace,’

‘Getting rid of Bin Laden is good for the cause of peace worldwide but what counts is to overcome the discourse and the methods — the violent methods — that were created and encouraged by Bin Laden and others in the world,’ PA spokesman Ghassan Khatib said…” (How does one obtain the title of holy warrior when he planned and saw 3,000 victims burned and cremated on 9/11 at the twin towers – Ground Zero – James 4:1-3.)

Haaretz reports: “The founder of one of Pakistan’s most violent Islamist militant groups has told Muslims to be heartened by the death of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden, as his ‘martyrdom’ would not go in vain, a spokesman for the group said…

The media are often barred from gatherings of Lashkar-e-Taiba, the militant group blamed for the 2008 terror attacks on Mumbai.

But a spokesman for Hafiz Mohammad Saeed said he had told followers at special prayers held for the slain al-Qaida leader that this ‘great person’ would continue to be a source of strength and encouragement for Muslims around the world.

‘Osama bin Laden was a great person who awakened the Muslim world,’ Saeed’s spokesman Yahya Mujahid quoted him as saying during prayers at the headquarters of the Lashkar-e-Taiba’s charity in the Punjab capital Lahore.

‘Martyrdoms are not losses, but are a matter of pride for Muslims,’ Saeed said. ‘Osama bin Laden has rendered great sacrifices for Islam and Muslims, and these will always be remembered.’…” (Great sacrifices for Islam and Muslims — really? He hated the Shi’ites and Sunnis as a Wahhabite – a fundamentalist Islamic terrorist group who eliminated some 85,000 Muslims in Iraq alone because they were classified as apostates to Allah, the Koran, and this ego maniac. Israel National News reports: “MK Ibrahim Sarsoor of the extremist Arab list Ra’am Ta’al called the assassination of Osama Bin Laden a ‘murder’ and said that it was carried out as part of Barack Obama’s preparations for the next presidential elections.

‘The mixing of Arab and Muslim blood into election campaigns in the U.S. and Israel is no longer uncommon,’ the Islamist Sarsoor said in a statement to the press. ‘Anyone who follows the cycle of blood and elections in American-Israeli culture in the last ten years will see it clearly and without a doubt.’

‘I cannot rule out that the murder of Bin Laden was the start of Obama’s election campaign for a second term, especially in view of the fact that the Republican majority in Congress is waiting to pounce on him over his political steps on both foreign and internal affairs.’

‘The murder of Sheikh Bin Laden must cause us to pause and consider not only the event itself, but also on what stands behind the action, so that we raise the hard questions whose time has come.’…”

Haaretz reports: “World leaders warned of revenge attacks after Osama bin Laden was killed in a U.S. assault in Pakistan that brought to a dramatic end the long manhunt for the al Qaeda leader who had become the most powerful symbol of Islamist militancy.

President Barack Obama declared the world was a safer and ‘better place’ with bin Laden dead. But the euphoria that drew flag-waving crowds to ‘Ground Zero’ of the Sept. 11, 2001, attack in New York was tempered by calls for vigilance against retaliation by his followers.

The U.S. administration told Israel’s ambassador to Washington, Michael Oren, about the killing before Obama made his statement to the press. But not all Americans felt at ease with the spontaneous street celebrations after the Al-Qaida leader’s death. ‘These images of celebrations must look pretty ugly to the world,’ said one C-Span viewer. ‘It could bring about another attack.’

In Israel, the Israel Airports Authority increased the alert level at the country’s airports and border crossings, and security has been heightened around the offices of Israeli airlines abroad such as El Al, Arkia and Israir. The Airports Authority told Haaretz the measures addressed current security needs.

In addition, security has been increased at Jewish institutions across the United States, and the police are more closely monitoring American mosques.

BBC News reports: “Britons have been urged to be vigilant in the wake of the death of al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, with embassies worldwide ordered to review their security.

Bin Laden, blamed by the US for the 9/11 attacks, was killed by US forces about 62 miles from Pakistan’s capital.

Prime Minister David Cameron hailed the death as ‘a great success’ but said it was not the end of terror threats.

Foreign Secretary William Hague said the network may try to reassert itself.

The Foreign Office urged Britons overseas to ‘exercise caution in all public places and avoid demonstrations, large crowds of people and public events’.

Mr. Cameron was phoned by US President Barack Obama before dawn UK time, a couple of hours before the president announced the news in a televised address.

‘The news Osama Bin Laden is dead will bring great relief to people across the world,’ Mr. Cameron said.

He later spoke from the prime minister’s country residence, Chequers, saying: ‘It is a great success that he has been found and will no longer be able to pursue his campaign of global terror.’

He went on: ‘This news will be welcomed right across our country. Of course, it does not mark the end of the threat we face from extremist terror – indeed we will have to be particularly vigilant in the weeks ahead. But it is, I believe, a massive step forward.’

Following Bin Laden’s death, the US put its embassies around the world on alert, warning Americans of the possibility of al-Qaeda reprisal attacks for Bin Laden’s killing.

Mr. Hague also stressed the likelihood of reprisals against UK targets.

‘We must remember that this is not the end of being vigilant against al-Qaeda and associated groups, and, in fact, there may be parts of al-Qaeda that will try to show that they are still in business in the coming weeks, as indeed some of them are…” (England is in great danger as the entire nation has more mosques than Christian churches. WorldNetDaily.com reports: “The death of Osama bin Laden will bring a ‘new era of jihad,’ predicted British extremist cleric Anjem Choudary.

Warning there are motivated jihadists ‘in the heart of America,’ Choudary said al-Qaida will likely carry out revenge operations with ‘meticulous accuracy’ and ‘devastating affect’ comparable to that of the 9/11 attacks.

Choudary is the founder and former chief of two Islamic groups disbanded by the British authorities under anti-terror legislation.

Speaking in an interview with ‘Aaron Klein Investigative Radio’ of New York’s WABC Radio, Choudary said that while bin Laden was a ‘lion of Islam … there are many lions waiting to take his place.’

‘I do believe that the death of Sheikh Osama will bring in a new era of jihad,’ Choudary told Klein.

‘Post-Osama bin Laden, I believe the mujahedeen around the world will have something to prove, that the jihad is not about an individual.’…” (God save and bless America.
