In light of recent news, do you think Jesus is surely coming soon?

R.S
Silver Spring, MD

Matthew 24:36 says: “But that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” I will point to verse 33 of the same chapter, which states that, “When ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.” These verses in Matthew 24 refer to the Revelation of Christ 7, years after the Rapture of the Church. Since we see the signs fulfilled which precede His return at the Revelation, we know the Rapture must be imminent. So, while no man can know the exact day or hour, we certainly know the time is near. Jesus Christ is coming real soon!

Please explain Matthew 24:40-41. “Then two shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Then two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.”

Matthew 24:37-42 tells us that this passage is speaking about judgments, not the Rapture. It refers to two specific judgments that will be poured out on the earth during the Tribulation. Let’s say that there were 6 billion people left on the earth after the Rapture. Revelation 9:18 says that a third of the people on the earth will be killed. One third of six billion is two billion, that means that two billion will die and four billion will survive. Revelation 6:8 says that of the four billion that remain, one fourth of those will die. That's another one billion people. So of the six billion people, three billion will die and three billion will survive. In other words, out of two people, one will be taken and one will be left.

Is there a reason the dead in Christ rise first, and not all of us together?

T.H
Sebring, FL

The Rapture of the Church involves the resurrection of the Christian dead as well as the exit from earth of all believers living at that time (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). Regarding the Christian dead, the Bible teaches that the body is asleep in one place (the grave) whereas the soul is alive in another place (heaven). To be “absent from the body” is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). When Christ returns at the Rapture, He brings those that sleep (are dead) with Him (1 Thessalonians 4:14). How can He bring the dead with Him and still come for the dead (1 Thessalonians 4:16)? The dead are in two places! The souls and spirits are with the Lord, but their bodies are in the grave. Hence Christ brings the dead (souls and spirits) with Him so they may be reunited with their bodies. That is why the dead in Christ rise first.

It's troubling. Why are so many cults popping up everywhere these day?

KFT
Lincoln, NE

The definition of a “cult” varies according to who is using the word. Generally speaking, Christians would define a cult as a religious group which deviates from the foundational truths of God’s Word, the Bible. Almost all cults are built upon a specific individual and that person’s interpretation of Scripture. The reason why we have so many cults today? The spirit of the Antichrist has been unleashed by Satan himself in these latter days.

Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation (Acts 4:12). Look to Him only. Look up! He's coming soon.

What is going on in our nation? Things seem to be so wrong these days.

M.C

I understand your care and concern. The Bible gives us the answer for a godly nation.

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34)

“If My people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (II Chronicles 7:14)

Every believer must know that, “God has not appointed us to wrath” . . . therefore comfort each other with these words (I Thessalonians 5:9, 11).

Is the word rapture found in the Bible?

D.A
Haines City, FL

The term Rapture comes from the Latin word Rapio which means the snatching away. Since I Corinthians 15:51-54 pictures an hour when Christians will be whisked away in the twinkling of an eye to meet Jesus Christ, it is both logical and proper to call this event the Rapture (or Rapio). The Rapture is also the literal, visible, bodily coming of Christ in the clouds to call to Himself in the twinkling of an eye, all of His children, living and dead, bodily.

I know in my heart I'm saved. I can't convince my brain to agree with my heart. Once we're saved, God forgives and forgets. Why can't I?

J.C
Newnan, GA

We know that all those who have trusted Christ to forgive them of their sins and give them eternal life are saved. Faith in Jesus Christ is what saves us. Although we may sin, we know that we can still have forgiveness. Christ died that we might know and have assurance of eternal life with Him. Revelation 3:5 is a verse of tremendous joy because we realize that it means we who have trusted Jesus Christ will be confessed before our Father. We will not be blotted out of the book but we will enjoy a precious place in it because we know the Lord. I John 4:15 tells us: “whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.” As long as we are in God and He in us, then we are forever and eternally saved. If God has said that He will forgive you, you should not doubt because God does not lie. If He makes a promise to you, you can count on it to be true for He has said He will never fail you or forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

We also have the precious promise of the Word that “whosoever will may come.” Jesus said in John 6, verse 37: “all that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” John 6:44 says that “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.” These are all precious promises from God's Word that we have our eternal Father with us. John 1:12 says that we are now children of God. We know that the Father will often chastise us for our disobedience to Him. This is a testimony that we are His children. Please read Hebrews chapter 12, verses 5-8. These will show you that our chastisement is from our Father who is in Heaven.

The term “falling away” as it is used in II Thessalonians 2:3; is it referring to apostasy or is it referring to the Rapture?

D.R
Evansville, IN

The falling away, or apostasy, is an aggressive and climatic revolt against God which will prepare the way for the appearance of the man of sin (see I Timothy 4:1-5; II Timothy 3:1-5). The man of sin is literally the man of lawlessness. While it is true that the forces of lawlessness were at work in Paul’s time and are at work today, the man of lawlessness is an individual of the future who will come to power during the Tribulation days.

The antichrist is currently being held back by a restrainer. Some understand this to be God indwelling His Church by the Holy Spirit, while others see human government as the restraint. According to the former view, the removal will be at the rapture of the church, according to the latter, it will happen at the overthrow of human government at the hands of the antichrist.

Paul’s argument in II Thessalonians can be summed up as follows. [1] The day of the Lord will not begin until the antichrist is revealed. [2] The antichrist cannot begin to act until the restrainer, the Church or believers, are removed. [3] Since the restrainer has not been removed, the Day of the Lord cannot have begun.

It is evident from John 16:7,8 that the work of the Spirit in the world is that of conviction and restraint concerning sin. He accomplishes this work through the bodies of those He indwells (I Corinthians 6:19). Spirit-indwelled believers have a purifying effect on the world. The Antichrist cannot be revealed until the Bride of Christ (the Church – all believers dead and living) are removed (II Thessalonians 2:3,7,8).

This does not mean that the Holy Spirit must be removed from the earth. This is not possible since He, as God, is omnipresent (present everywhere at all times) Psalms 139:7-11 and always will be.

Speaking of the Antichrist, will he despise any intimate relationship with women?

K.H
Voorhees, NJ

In Daniel 11:37 it speaks of the Antichrist, saying that he will not “regard the desire of women”. Some scholars have suggested this to mean that the Antichrist will not engage in the physical desires which a man has for a woman. This idea, however, does not fit the context. More in line is the thought that this is a specific urge or craving the women of Israel had to become the mother of the Messiah, fulfilling Micah 5:2 and Isaiah 9:6-7. Therefore, because the Antichrist hates God–and hates Christ–he has no regard for the Savior, the desire of women for centuries to bear and deliver the Messiah. The Antichrist will hate Jesus so much, and become so violently opposed to everything for which He stands, that he not only refuses to bow down and worship the Saviour, but also executes those who do (Revelation 13:15: 20:4).

Please tell me, are aliens true, or are they a trick of the devil?

B.T
Turlock, CA

I believe that the rash of reports about UFOs are connected with the spirit world. The question, “Is there life on other planets?” is unimportant. There is life in the heavens, for the stratosphere is full of demonic spirits, and they are alive. This could easily explain the thousands of saucer sightings in recent years.

Whatever these UFOs are, I definitely believe they are connected with the spirit world. Ezekiel 1 and 2 Kings 2:11 talk about angels and a chariot of fire. Whoever mans them is not the important point. The fact that weird signs in space are prophesied for the latter days is. It makes us realize that the coming of the Lord is near.

I just don't understand. Why does it seem no one is preaching it (prophecy)?

R.F
city/state(anonymous)

The Rapture of the Church should not be viewed as a time of sadness but one of joy and hope. Many teachers are not willing to teach Prophecy correctly, while others refuse to teach it at all.

Why is there so little teaching today about prophetic events or what the Bible says about the future?

Primarily because it demands so much study and research. Many do not want to spend the time necessary to study the prophetic scriptures and dig into God’s Word as they should. The Bible says, Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).

Secondly, many men do not teach from the prophetic scriptures because they are afraid of being branded as “sensationalists.” This is sad, because the message of Christ’s return is a blessed hope (Titus 2:13), a purifying hope (1 John 3:2, 3), and a hope that earns one a special crown (2 Timothy 4:7, 8).

But Jesus was a sensationalist! And much of what He said was also sensational. For instance: For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be (Matthew 24:27); Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven (Matthew 24:29). Jesus made these shocking statements! So we are branded as sensationalists, like Jesus, when we preach the Word of God.
