North Korea: Kim Jong-un vows to build ‘invincible military’

October 12, 2021 — BBC.com reports: “North Korea’s leader has vowed to build an ‘invincible military’ in the face of what it says are hostile policies from the United States, state media report.

Kim Jong-un added that weapons development was for self-defence, and not to start a war.

Mr Kim made the comments at a rare defence exhibition while flanked by a variety of large missiles.

North Korea has recently tested what it claims to be new hypersonic and anti-aircraft missiles.

The South meanwhile has recently tested its own submarine-launched weapon.

In his speech at the Self-Defence 2021 exhibition held in the North’s capital, Pyongyang, Mr Kim addressed the military build-up in the South and said that North Korea did not want to fight its neighbour.

‘We are not discussing war with anyone, but rather to prevent war itself and to literally increase war deterrence for the protection of national sovereignty,’ he said…”  (China and North Korea are prophesied to be top contenders and bloody warriors during the battle of Armageddon – Revelation 16:16. North Korea fires suspected submarine-launched ballistic missile

October 19, 2021 — SpaceWar.com reports: “North Korea fired a suspected submarine-launched ballistic missile into the sea on Tuesday, the South’s military said, the nuclear-armed country’s latest advance in weapons technology and one that could give it a second-strike capability.

The test came with both Koreas building up their weapons capabilities in what could become an arms race on the peninsula, and with the Washington-Pyongyang dialogue at a standstill.

The ‘short-range ballistic missile suspected to be an SLBM’ was fired from Sinpo into the sea east of the peninsula, Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement.

Sinpo is a major naval shipyard with satellite photographs previously showing submarines at the facility, and the statement added: ‘South Korean and US intelligence are closely analysing for additional detail.’

The key question will be whether it was fired from a working submarine, or an underwater platform or barge.

A proven submarine-based missile capability would take the North’s arsenal to a new level, allowing deployment far beyond the Korean peninsula and a second-strike capability in the event of an attack on its military bases…”

US in uphill battle to challenge Russia in Black Sea

U.S. needs nuclear spacecraft to compete with China, NASA official says

October 22, 2021 — SpaceDaily.com reports: “NASA and U.S. aerospace experts urged Congress on Wednesday to invest more quickly and heavily in development of nuclear-powered spacecraft Wednesday to stay ahead of such competitors as China.

The space agency believes spacecraft powered by a nuclear thermal rocket reach Mars in just three to four months, which is about half the time required by traditional, liquid propellant rockets.

‘Strategic competitors including China are aggressively investing in a wide range of space technologies, including nuclear power and propulsion,’ Bhavya Lal, NASA’s senior advisor for budget and finance, said during a congressional committee hearing Wednesday morning.

‘The United States needs to move at a fast pace to stay competitive and to remain a leader in the global space community,’ Lal said…”

China Stuns U.S. Intelligence with Hypersonic Missile Test

October 18, 2021 — Breitbart.com reports: “U.S. intelligence agencies were caught by surprise when China secretly tested a nuclear-capable low-orbit hypersonic missile in August, the Financial Times reported Saturday. The weapon circled the globe before descending upon its target, missing by about two dozen miles.

The Pentagon is aware China has been working on hypersonic weapons technology and other advanced missile systems, unburdened by any of the arms control treaties that impede competing programs in the United States and Russia, but the August test – conducted without advance notice, warning, or publication – reportedly stunned analysts who thought the Chinese were much further behind in the orbital arms race.

‘We have no idea how they did this,’ said one of the Financial Times’ U.S. intelligence sources. Others described China’s progress as ‘astounding’ and ‘far more advanced than U.S. officials realized.’…”  (China will become a basic partner with Russia for the rapidly approaching battle of Armageddon – Revelation 16:16. US ‘very concerned’ over China’s hypersonic test

October 19, 2021 —SpaceWar.com reports: “The United States is ‘very concerned’ about China’s hypersonic missile tests, US disarmament ambassador Robert Wood said Monday, after reports that Beijing launched one with a nuclear capacity in August.

On Saturday, the Financial Times reported that China had launched a hypersonic missile that completed a circuit of the planet before landing, missing its target.

‘We are very concerned by what China has been doing on the hypersonic front,’ said Wood, who next week steps down from his post in Geneva after seven years.

Hypersonic missiles, like traditional ballistic missiles, can fly more than five times the speed of sound (Mach 5). But they are more manoeuvrable than their ballistic counterparts and only need a low trajectory in the atmosphere, making them harder to defend against.

China on Monday insisted on Monday that the test was a routine one for a spacecraft rather than a missile…”

China may boost accuracy of its hypersonic weapons via AI technology

October 19, 2021 — SpaceDaily.com reports: “Chinese PLA researchers are reportedly seeking to improve the accuracy of the country’s hypersonic delivery systems via artificial intelligence, according to the South China Morning Post.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian on Monday refuted a report by the Financial Times saying that the country conducted a hypersonic missile test in August. First, it was not a missile but a space vehicle; second, the trials took place in July, Zhao specified.

Earlier, FT dropped a bombshell by claiming that China had tested a nuclear-capable hypersonic weapon. According to the report, the Chinese military launched a rocket carrying a hypersonic glide vehicle that circled the Earth through low-orbit space before cruising towards its target…”

China plans to build special site for weekly launch of Long March 8 rockets

October 8, 2021 — SpaceDaily.com reports: “China plans to build a special pad at the Wenchang Space Launch Site in Hainan to launch the next-generation Long March 8 rockets on a weekly basis, the head of the Long March 8 project at the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), Xiao Yun, said on 4 October.

‘Our current preliminary plan is that we will be able to carry out one launch every seven days to meet public needs,’ Xiao told China Central Television.

According to the project manger, if two such sites are built in the future, then at least 50 launches of this type of rockets alone can be carried out per year, which exceeds the current total annual number of China’s missile launches…

The Long March 8 rocket runs on ecological rocket fuel. The 50-meter (165 feet) rocket has a launch mass of 356 tonnes and is capable of delivering up to 4.5 tonnes of cargo to the sun-synchronous orbit. The first Long March 8 test launch was successfully carried out last December, delivering five satellites to orbit…”
