North Korea says constitution now defines South as ‘hostile’ state

October 17, 2024SpaceWar.com reports: “North Korea said Thursday that its constitution now defines the South as a ‘hostile’ state, the first time Pyongyang has confirmed legal changes called for by leader Kim Jong Un earlier this year.

Relations between the two Koreas have deteriorated since Kim in January defined Seoul as his country’s ‘principal enemy’ and said the North was no longer interested in reunification.

After months of laying fresh mines and ramping up security on the border, the country this week blew up roads and railways linking it to the South, calling it ‘an inevitable and legitimate measure’, the official Korean Central News Agency said.

The move was ‘taken in keeping with the requirement of the DPRK Constitution, which clearly defines the ROK (South Korea) as a hostile state,’ KCNA said, the first time the North has mentioned a revision of its basic law.

The country last week held a key meeting of its rubber-stamp parliament, where experts had widely expected the constitution to be revised after Kim’s explicit call for it in January…”  (North Korea marches with Russia and China for the war of the latter years and latter days – Ezekiel 38:8, 16.  Atomic bombs will produce global incineration – Psalms 97:3; Isaiah 66:15; Joel 2:3, 30; Zephaniah 1:18; Malachi 4:1; Revelation 8:7 and 9:18.  See the next three reports.)

Kim Jong Un rejects reunification with ‘foreign country’ South Korea

October 18, 2024SpaceWar.com reports: “North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called South Korea a ‘foreign country’ and rejected the goal of reunification, state media reported Friday, days after Pyongyang blew up sections of roads and railways connecting it with the South.

Kim made the remarks during an inspection of the headquarters of the 2nd Corps of the Korean People’s Army on Thursday, the official Korean Central News Agency reported.

‘He stressed that our army should keep in mind once again the stark fact that the ROK is a foreign country and an apparent hostile country,’ KCNA reported, using the official acronym for South Korea.

Kim called the blasting of the roads, once seen as a symbol of improving relations between the two Koreas, ‘the physical closure but also the end of the evil relationship with Seoul, which persistently lasted century after century.’

He added that the detonations would completely remove the ‘unreasonable idea of reunification.’

On Thursday, state media reported that North Korea’s Constitution now defines South Korea as a ‘hostile state’ in the first indication of changes made during a parliamentary meeting last week.

Kim called the South the ‘invariable principal enemy’ earlier this year and publicly called for a constitutional change rejecting the long-held official goal of reunification…”

Pyongyang to ‘permanently’ shut border with South Korea

October 10, 2024SpaceWar.com reports: “North Korea’s army said on Wednesday it was moving to ‘permanently shut off and block the southern border’ with the South and had informed the US military to prevent an accidental clash.

Pyongyang said in a statement it would ‘cut off roads and railways’ that might have made travel between the two Koreas possible.

However, it was largely a symbolic gesture because cross-border exchanges and travel between North and South Korea have been halted for years.

Inter-Korean relations are at one of their lowest points in years, with Pyongyang closing agencies dedicated to reunification and declaring South Korea its ‘principal enemy’.

Some analysts thought the announcement could be a potential first step towards more serious action, such as amending the North’s constitution to declare a new maritime border south of the current de facto line.

The nuclear-armed North had been expected to scrap a landmark inter-Korean agreement signed in 1991 at a key parliamentary meeting that ended on Tuesday, part of leader Kim Jong Un’s drive to officially define the South as an enemy state…”

North Korea says ordered border army to be ready to shoot

October 14, 2024SpaceWar.com reports: “North Korea said Sunday it had ordered military units deployed near the border with South Korea to be prepared to shoot after claiming the South had sent unmanned drones carrying propaganda leaflets to Pyongyang.

Relations between the two Koreas are at a low point, with the North’s leader Kim Jong Un declaring South Korea to be his country’s ‘principal enemy’ earlier this year.

Citing the North’s defence ministry statement, the official Korean Central News Agency reported that ‘the General Staff of the KPA issued a preliminary operation order on October 12 to the combined artillery units along the border… to get fully ready to open fire.’

KPA stands for the Korean People’s Army, the North’s military.

The order was for ‘eight artillery brigades fully armed at full wartime strength on standby to open fire’ until Sunday night at 8 pm (1100 GMT).

KCNA also said other units were ordered to ‘intensify monitoring on full alert’ while ‘anti-air observation posts have been reinforced’ in the capital city Pyongyang…”

North Korea’s Kim says he will speed up steps to become a nuclear superpower

October 8, 2024Voice of America News reports: “North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said his country will speed up steps toward becoming a military superpower with nuclear weapons and would not rule out using them if enemies attacked it, state media KCNA said on Tuesday.

Kim made the comments in a speech on Monday at a university, which was printed in full by KCNA.

He said he has no intention of attacking South Korea, but ‘if the enemy attempts to use force against our country’ North Korea’s military will use all aggression without hesitation, which ‘does not preclude the use of nuclear weapons.’.

Kim also called for extensive strengthening of North Korea’s defenses, according to KCNA…”  (Kim Jong-un, his sister, and recently his daughter, Ju-ae, who appeared with him twice recently raising speculation about possible succession, are following in the footsteps of Kim Jong-il and Kim il-sung in seeking nuclear weapons.  In 1993, President Bill Clinton spoke in South Korea and stated that if North Korea gained and used a nuclear weapon, the U.S. would quickly and overwhelming retaliate, and it would mean the end of their country as they know it.  President George W. Bush named North Korea as one of the three-part ‘axis of evil’ along with Iran and Iraq in 2002.  In 2014, President Barack Obama warned North Korea that the U.S. would not hesitate to use military might to defend our allies against this ‘pariah state’.  And in August 2017, President Donald Trump stated: “North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States.  They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.”  It is believed that North Korea developed nuclear weapons in 2004.  See the next two reports.)

Kim Jong Un threatens to use nuclear weapons against U.S., South Korea

October 9, 2024SpaceWar.com reports: “North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warned the United States and South Korea that any attack would be met with a nuclear response, state media reported Tuesday, as tensions remain high on the Peninsula and concerns swirl about a possible provocation ahead of the U.S. presidential election.

Kim made the threat in a speech during his visit to Kim Jong Un University of National Defense on Monday, according to Korean Central News Agency.

‘If the enemy attempts to use force against our state, the armed forces of the Republic will use all their offensive power without hesitation,’ he said. ‘This does not preclude the use of nuclear weapons.’

Kim added that the North’s ‘steps toward becoming a military superpower and a nuclear power will be accelerated.’

North Korea passed a law declaring itself a nuclear state in 2022 and claimed the right to conduct a preemptive nuclear strike if threatened…”

South Korean president warns North of ‘regime end’ if it uses nukes

October 1, 2024SpaceWar.com reports: “North Korean leader Kim Jong Un would face the end of his regime if he ever used his isolated country’s nuclear weapons against the South, Seoul’s president said Tuesday.

President Yoon Suk Yeol was speaking at an event to mark the anniversary of the founding of South Korea’s armed forces, with a military parade and fighter jet flyover in central Seoul scheduled for later in the day.

‘If North Korea attempts to use nuclear weapons, it will face the resolute and overwhelming response of our military,’ Yoon said, addressing 5,300 service members gathered at Seoul Air Base for the celebration.

‘That day will mark the end of the North Korean regime,’ he added, pointing to the strength of the country’s security alliance with the United States, which stations tens of thousands of troops in the South.

South Korea showcased its largest ballistic missile — the Hyunmoo-5, which is capable of destroying underground bunkers — for the first time as part of the event.

An American B-1B heavy bomber also staged a flyover flanked by F-15K jets to demonstrate the security alliance between Seoul and Washington…”
